June 28, 2023 | Baseball, Academic Services
The Cardinals led all schools with the 20 selections.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program had 20 players named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team released on Wednesday.
The 20 selections were the most of any team.
Brandon Anderson, Logan Beard, Tucker Biven, Will Cook, Kaleb Corbett, Greg Farone, Patrick Forbes, Kade Grundy, Tyeler Hawkins, Ryan Hawks, Isaac Humphrey, Gavin Kilen, Eddie King Jr., Christian Knapczyk, Carson Liggett, Haven Mangrum, Ryan McCoy, Jack Payton, Riley Phillips and Evan Webster garnered the distinction.
Requirements for selection to the All-ACC Baseball Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, position players must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests and pitchers in 20 percent.
The 20 selections continue a run of academic success that saw the Cardinals extend their streak of consecutive semesters with a 3.0 grade point average to 24 straight this spring.
The span of 24 straight semesters with a team GPA of 3.0 or better coincides with unparalleled success on the field for Louisville, which has four College World Series appearances, seven NCAA Super Regional berths, nine NCAA Regional bids and eight conference championships during that time.
