Cards Send Three to Finals at US National Championships on Day 1

Harting and both Albieros made the finals on Day 1
INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Louisville swimming put three Cardinals in the finals and one on the podium after the first day of racing at the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships meet today.
The long-course meters event got off the blocks today and run from June 27-July 1 at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis and serves as a selection opportunity for the 2023 World Championships, LEN U23 Championships and 2023 Pan American Games rosters.
Cardinal forever and Olympian Zach Harting was seeded third in the 200M butterfly after posting a prelim time of 1:55.48. He made the podium with a third place finish in the A-final with a time of 1:55.12.
Fellow Cardinal alum Nicolas Albiero made the B-final in the 200M butterfly after posting a 1:57.40 in the prelims. He was third in the B-final with a time of 1:55.96.
Current Cardinal Tommy Bried was 33rd overall in the 200M fly with a time of 2:00.46. Michael Eastman touched 44th in the 100M freestyle with a time of 49.97.
Gabi Albiero made the B-final in the 100M freestyle after posting a preliminary time of 45.36, a personal best. In the B-final, she was fourth with a time of 54.49.
Julia Dennis put up a personal best time of 55.43 to finish 30th overall in the 100M freestyle.
Christiana Regenauer had a personal best and grabbed an Olympic Trial cut in the 100M freestyle with a time of 55.54 to finish 33rd overall.
Tristen Ulett posted a personal best and Olympic Trial cut time of 55.59 to finish 34th.
Ella Welch went 56.56 to touch 53rd overall in the 100M freestyle. C
Paige Kuwata was 38th in the 800M freestyle with a time of 8:59.48 and Eli Shoyat was fifth in his heat in the 1500M free to finish 11th overall with a time of 15:18.87.
Schedule of Events
Preliminary sessions will begin at 10 a.m. ET each day, with the finals slated for 7 p.m. ET starts each evening. The prelims will be live streamed daily and NBC will provide coverage of the finals each night on Peacock.
