May 31, 2023 | Softball
Taylor Roby was named to the NFCA All-America second team
The University of Louisville's Taylor Roby has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America second team as announced by the organization during its annual press conference at the Women's College World Series (WCWS). She becomes Louisville's 10th softball All-America selection and the second in as many years following Carmyn Greenwood's third team honor in 2022.
Â
Roby is one of 55 student-athletes from 33 different institutions voted to one of three 2023 NFCA Division I All-America teams. Read the complete NFCA All-America announcement here.
Â
The national recognition caps a stellar career for the Mt. Washington, Ky. native who is also a three-time NFCA All-Southeast Region and All-ACC honoree. At the conclusion of her final collegiate season, Roby registered a .360 batting average and led the ACC with a school record 23 home runs while standing tied for second in the NCAA in that category.
Â
She also produced a career and league-best 57 RBIs and paced the team with an .835 slugging percentage and 33 Âwalks. Along with her single season home run record, Roby also owns UofL's overall mark at 63 and stands third on the ACC's list for career home runs and seventh on the NCAA active career leaders list. Â
Â
In addition to her offensive numbers, the two-way player led the team with a 2.47 ERA with 10 wins in the circle. She finishes her storied career ranked in the top 10 among Louisville's career pitching leaders in appearances, starts, strikeouts, wins, innings pitched and saves and stands second with 184 career RBIs and 116 walks and third in career total bases (425).
Â
"Taylor Roby has been such an integral part of Louisville softball for the last five years and to see her final season culminate with an NCAA Regional appearance and an NFCA All-America honor is outstanding," said UofL head coach Holly Aprile. "Taylor's accomplishments on the field have been prolific, but while records and glory may fade, her love for the game and her commitment to our program, the University of Louisville and this community will always be remembered."
