Louisville picked up an 18-7 win at Louisville Slugger Field on Tuesday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 25th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team tallied an 18-7 victory over Bellarmine on Tuesday at Louisville Slugger Field.
Louisville (29-15) plated a season-high in runs in the victory, the most since scoring 20 in a win over Michigan in the 2022 NCAA Regional.
Ryan McCoy and Isaac Humphrey each homered and drove in four runs to lead the Cardinals' 19-hit offensive attack. Logan Beard added three hits while Christian Knapczyk and Gavin Kilen each picked up two apiece.
Despite the final score, Louisville did not take its first lead until the fifth inning on Tuesday night.
Bellarmine (11-34) plated a run in the first inning and added three unearned runs in the fourth to lead 4-1 after four frames. However, the Cardinals scored six in the fifth to move in front and seven more in the sixth to pull away.
With two runs already home, Knapczyk singled home two more to give the Cards a 5-4 lead in the fifth and Will Cook followed with a two-run single of his own to finish off the six-run inning.
In the sixth, Kilen and Beard each singled home runs before Humphrey launched a towering three-run homer to right field. Three batters later, McCoy hit a two-run shot for his team-leading 11th of the season to push the lead to double digits.
McCoy added a two-run single in the eighth before a Kilen RBI triple and Beard RBI double in the ninth.
Evan Webster (3-2) earned the victory with a scoreless inning as one of eight different pitchers to take the ball for Cardinals. Alex Galvan, Will Koger and Cameron Robinson all turned in scoreless innings of their own as well.
Louisville returns to conference play this weekend with a three-game road set at No. 18 Clemson. The series gets underway on Friday night at 6 p.m. ET.
