Louisville matched its season-high in runs in Tuesday’s victory.
Louisville (30-22) snapped a seven-game losing streak with the win, matching its season-high with 18 runs in the process.
Eddie King Jr. started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run double into the left field corner.
However, Northern Kentucky (28-23) tied the game up with a pair of runs in the third.
From there, it was all Louisville. Gavin Kilen gave the Cards the lead back with a single in the fourth and JT Benson broke it open with a long three-run homer. Will Cook then added a pinch-hit two-run home run in the fifth.
In the sixth, the Cardinals sent 14 batters to the plate, eight of which came around to score. Louisville took advantage of wild pitching, taking seven walks and a hit by pitch in the frame. Brandon Anderson doubled in two in the inning, while Logan Beard added a run-scoring single.
Anderson added a sacrifice fly in the eighth and Noah Smith capped the scoring with a RBI knock.
Ten different Cardinals recorded a hit in the win, led by multiple hits from Beard, Kilen and Haven Mangrum.
Evan Webster (4-2) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, retiring eight of the nine batters he faced. Alex Galvan, Riley Phillips, Kade Grundy and Cameron Robinson all turned in scoreless outings.
Louisville wraps up the regular season with a three-game series against Florida State. The series begins on Thursday at Jim Patterson Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
