
Volleyball Announces Brazil Trip

Cards head to Brazil for five planned matches
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville volleyball team will travel to Brazil next month where the Cardinals plan to play five matches while touring four different cities.

Louisville will head to Arraial Do Cabo, Saquarema, Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo from June 8-18.

The Cardinals will start their journey in Sao Paulo where, in addition to competing, they will visit Ibirapuera Park and the Fiera da Praça Benedito Calixto Open Market.

They will then head to Rio de Janeiro where they will spend time at the world famous Copacabana beach and Pao de Azucar (Sugarloaf Mountain) as well as visiting the world famous statue Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer).

Next the Cardinals will head to Saquerema with an opportunity built in to visit local schools and interact with the students as well as compete.

The final stop on the tour will be to Arraial do Cabo where the Cards will hike, surf and play beach volleyball before heading back to Rio to fly home to the Ville.

About the Cards:
The No. 2 overall seed and the No. 2-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team (31-3, 17-1) advanced to its second-straight Final Four appearance. After beating ACC rival Pittsburgh in the Semi-finals, the Cardinals advanced to their first-ever NCAA Championships match before falling to top-seeded Texas.
The Cardinals earned their spot in the Final Four after sweeping No. 4 Baylor in the Sweet 16, before defeating No. 3 Oregon in a five-set thriller in the Elite Eight.  The Cards dispatched Samford and Purdue in the first and second rounds at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena without dropping a set. UofL earned the ACC's automatic qualifier with a 17-1 record in the league with Dani Busboom Kelly being voted ACC Coach of the Year. Claire Chaussee was voted ACC Player of the Year. Raquel Lazaro was voted ACC Setter of the Year and libero Elena Scott winning ACC Defensive Player of the Year.Â
