Cards snap nine-game ACC win streak
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team fell 1-0 to Notre Thursday evening at Ulmer Stadium in the teams' Atlantic Coast Conference series opener.
Â
The Cardinals (24-11, 9-3 ACC) and the Irish (22-10-1, 6-6-1 ACC) will return to action Friday at 6 p.m.
Â
The teams played through two scoreless innings before the Irish broke through in the top of the third behind Joely Mitchell's solo home run.
Â
Hannah File and Easton Lotus each had two hits to lead UofL at the plate, but the Cards were unable to push a run across, despite moving runners into scoring position in the second, third and fifth innings.
Â
Alyssa Zabala (11-5) took the loss, allowing one earned run on two hits with one strikeout in 2.2 innings. Taylor Roby held the Irish in check, surrendering only one hit and did not allow a walk in 4.1 innings of relief.
Â
Payton Tidd (11-5) kept the Cards at bay, scattering six hits and striking out two in the complete game shutout.
