Louisville Hosts Notre Dame for Three-Game ACC Series

Cards and Irish will open the series Thursday at 6 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team will return to Ulmer Stadium to face Notre Dame in a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series starting on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Thursday will be UofL's StrikeOut Cancer Game in conjunction with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association initiative to help raise funds and awareness to fight cancer.

Head coach Holly Aprile is entering her fifth season as UofL's head coach. During her time at the helm – which includes the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season, Aprile guided the Cardinals to 112 wins and an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

Taylor Roby registered three home runs on the day and a win in the circle to help lead UofL to a doubleheader sweep of Syracuse. The Cardinals took the series opener 5-3 and clinched the series with a 8-0 win in game two Saturday at Skytop Softball Stadium.
• On the day, Roby had four hits, including three home runs and a double and tallied eight RBIs with a career-high six coming in the second game. The right-handed pitcher also earned the series-opening win in the circle, striking out two in a complete game effort. Freshman Alyssa Zabala collected her team-best 11th win of the season and teamed with junior Gabby Holloway for a one-hit shutout in the nightcap.
