Cardinals Shut Out Miami in 11-0 Victory

Louisville recorded its second shutout of the week on Friday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 19th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team rebounded with an 11-0 victory over No. 12 Miami on Friday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (28-14, 9-11 ACC) recorded its second shutout win of the week and fourth of the season on Friday.
Ryan Hawks scattered eight singles across 4.2 scoreless innings in the start. Kayden Campbell (1-0) earned his first career victory with 1.1 innings of relief work. Kade Grundy tallied his first save after taking care of the final three.
The Cardinals got on the board in the second inning behind their third back-to-back home runs of the season. Brandon Anderson went to straightaway centerfield for the first home run of his career and Eddie King Jr. followed with his fourth of the season.
Louisville then loaded the bases later in the inning and Ryan McCoy delivered a two-run single into right-centerfield to make it 4-0 after two.
The Cards then plated added two in the fourth on hits from Logan Beard and Gavin Kilen before Jack Payton went the other way for a two-run homer in the sixth. The long ball tied Payton for the team lead with 10 this spring.
Isaac Humphrey and Tyeler Hawkins drove in runs in the seventh and Anderson capped the scoring with a single in the eighth.
Six different Cardinals recorded two hits on the night as eight of the nine starters picked up a hit and scored a run.
Louisville wraps up the weekend series on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
