Cards Host Boston College in Final Home Series

The University of Louisville softball team will conclude the home season this weekend when Boston College visits Don Dobina Field at Ulmer Stadium for a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series starting Friday at 6 p.m.

• UofL enters the weekend at No. 25 in the D1Softball poll and receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball coaches polls. The Cardinals bring a 32-14 record into their final home series with a 13-4 mark in ACC play, standing third in the conference behind Florida State (16-2) and Duke (17-4).
• In 46 games, the Cardinals have produced 10 shutouts and 10 wins via the eight-run rule.
• Louisville is batting .323 as a team with five players hitting above .300.
• Current ACC Co-Player of the Week Taylor Roby is tied for the national lead with a school-record 19 home runs this season and owns the school's career mark with 59. She also stands tied for eighth among the active NCAA career leaders.
• Roby is on a six-game hitting streak and has reached base safely via a hit or walk in the last 11 games.
• Korbe Otis leads the ACC and tied for third in the nation with seven triples. She also paces the team with a .415 batting average, 56 hits and 61 runs. She is a perfect 19-for-19 in stolen bases.
• Otis recently snapped a school-record on-base streak of 35 games in the 3-2 win at WKU. Overall, Otis has reached base via a hit or walk in all but three of Louisville's 44 games.
• Otis leads the ACC in runs scored – stands fourth on Louisville's single season list with 56.
• Alyssa Zabala leads the team with 13 wins and 76 strikeouts in 97.1 innings while Roby carries a team-best 2.37 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 97.2 innings of work.

THE HOLLY APRILE ERA
Head coach Holly Aprile is in her fifth season as UofL's head coach. During her time at the helm – which includes the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season, Aprile guided the Cardinals to 125 wins and an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019. She is four wins away from her 400th career victory as a head coach.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

CARDS AGAINST THE OPPONENTS
Boston College
Series Record: Louisville leads 10-6
Last Meeting: May 1-2, 2021 - Louisville took two of three games at BC. The Eagles won the series opener 5-4 in eight innings with the Cards winning the next games 10-1 and 4-1.
Scouting the Eagles: Boston College brings a 21-25 overall record and a 3-15 mark in ACC play, to place 13th in the current ACC standings.
• The Eagles are coming off of an 11-0 loss to Boston University in their home finale Tuesday evening. In last weekend's ACC series, BC went 1-2 against Notre Dame winning the opener 4-1, but falling 5-2, and 6-3 in the final two games.
• Nicole Giery leads the team with a .307 batting average while Hannah Slike has belted out a team-best six home runs.
• Abby Dunning (10-9) has shouldered the bulk of the pitching duties, carrying a 3.60 ERA with 134 strikeouts in 137.2 innings of work.

LAST UP
Louisville swept a three-game ACC series at Virginia, winning the first game 5-3, and using Taylor Roby's two-run homer in the seventh to prevail 6-4 in game two. The Cards completed the sweep with a 9-2 win on Sunday. Louisville has now won its last six games and secured four of its six ACC series this season.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals will conclude the regular season next weekend with a trip to Tallahassee to face No. 4/4 Florida State.
