Daisy Hess drives in five of Louisville's runs in Sunday’s 9-2 win at Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Louisville softball team defeated Virginia 9-2 to complete an Atlantic Coast Conference series sweep Sunday at Palmer Park.  With the win, the Cardinals improve to 32-14 overall and 13-4 in conference play.

Daisy Hess went 4-for-4 and tied a career high with five RBIs, Taylor Roby went 3-for-3, scoring two runs and driving in one and Easton Lotus had two hits and scored three runs to lead the Cardinals at the plate. Gabby Holloway (4-1) earned the win, scattering two hits and striking out four in 5.1 innings of relief.

The Cardinals jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. For the second straight day, Korbe Otis led off the game with a home run to put Louisville on the board. An error, a hit batter and a single loaded the bases for Daisy Hess, who delivered a two-run single.

Virginia (29-18, 8-13 ACC) answered in the home half of the inning, using a pair of hits by Jade Hylton and Tori Gilbert set up a two-run single by Katie Goldberg to cut the lead to one.

Louisville put up a four-spot in the second with RBI singles by Taylor Roby and Sarah Gordon and a two-run hit by Hess to make the score 7-2. The Cardinals' offense continued in the third with another pair of RBI hits from Gordon and Hess. Â Â

The Cavaliers were led at the plate by Jade Hylton who went 2-for-4. Goldberg drove in both of Virginia's runs. Molly Grube (7-9) took the loss.

The Cardinals will return to action next weekend when Boston College visits Ulmer Stadium for a three-game series starting Friday. Â
