Cardinals Defeat Eastern Kentucky 10-1

Louisville registers fourth straight victory
RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team defeated Eastern Kentucky 10-1 to pick up its fourth straight win Tuesday evening at Gertrude Hood Field. Â

Daisy Hess went 3-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases and a season-high four RBIs and Paige Geraghty went 3-for-4 with a double to lead Louisville at the plate. Gabby Holloway (1-1) picked up the win allowing one earned run on a hit and striking out two in three innings. With the victory, the Cardinals improve to 19-9 on the season.

The teams played through two scoreless innings before Louisville broke through with four runs in the third highlighted by Taylor Roby's RBI single and a three-run homer by Daisy Hess. Korbe Otis reached on a fielder's choice and Hannah File walked to set up Roby's two-out RBI hit. Hess followed with a rocket over the left field fence for her fourth homer of the season.

Louisville added another run in the in the fourth when Ally Alexander was hit by a pitch, moved to third on Geraghty's double and came home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Korbe Otis. Hess continued her offense in the fifth when she singled and proceeded to steal second and third to set up Easton Lotus' RBI hit making the score 6-0.

The Colonels (15-12) got on the scoreboard with Lou Bowers' solo home run in the home half of the fifth.

Louisville used four hits and a pair of walks to put up a four-spot and take a 10-1 lead in the sixth.

Lauren Narvaez (8-7) took the loss, allowing nine earned runs on 12 hits and striking out two in six innings. Bowers went 2-for-4 to lead EKU at the plate.

The Cards will return to Ulmer Stadium for a three-game ACC series against NC State starting on Friday at 5 p.m.
