Pitt Series Schedule Altered; Will Open with a Doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m.

Cards play host to Pitt in their ACC home-opening series with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. Friday and a single game Saturday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The schedule for University of Louisville softball team's weekend home series against Pitt has been adjusted due to cold temperatures in the forecast. The teams will meet in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. Friday with the series tentatively slated to conclude Saturday. The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions.

• After a four-game road trip, the University of Louisville softball team will return to Don Dobina Field at Ulmer Stadium for a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series against Pitt this weekend.
• UofL brings a 15-9 overall record into the weekend following a 10-2 loss at Charlotte. Last weekend the Cardinals went 1-2 at then-No. 15/15 Duke to open ACC play.

• Alyssa Zabala (6-3) carries a 2.78 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 50.1 innings of work. The freshman was named to the NFCA Leadoff All-Tournament team after an impressive collegiate debut

• Head coach Holly Aprile is entering her fifth season as UofL's head coach. During her time at the helm – which includes the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season, Aprile guided the Cardinals to 109 wins and an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

• Daisy Hess led the Cardinals with a .625 batting average (5-for-8), a triple, a home run. The senior shortstop also drew four walks and was 3-for-3 in stolen bases and carried a 1.250 slugging percentage and a .750 on-base percentage.
• Hess had at least one hit and scored at least one run in each of the Cardinals' three games at Duke including a 3-for3, two run performance in Saturday's 5-3 loss. The Georgia State transfer connected on her first home run as a Cardinal in the 9-6 loss to Duke on Friday. In Saturday's 13-9 win, Hess went 1-for-3 with two walks, a run and an RBI.
