Cardinals Complete Day 5 Prelims at ACC Championships

17 swimmers will head to the Finals along with milers' timed finals
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The University of Louisville swimming and diving team advanced 17 swimmers into the finals tonight in the final day of racing at the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The 1650 freestyle will be competed as a timed final beginning late this afternoon.
The Cards will send two swimmers to the A-final of the 200 backstroke as Paige Hetrick qualified third overall with a time of 1:52.46. Rye Ulett will join her in the A-final with a qualifying time of 1:53.83. Freshman Jordan Durocher will swim in the B-final after posting a time of 1:56.59. On the men's side, Jackson Millard advanced to the B-final with a time of 1:43.66.
Four Cardinals advanced to the finals in the 100 freestyle led by Gabi Albiero's 47.42 which qualifies her third overall. Christiana Regenauer put up a 47.70 to join Albiero in the A. The B-final will feature Julia Dennis (48.12) and Ella Welch (48.43). Karoline Barrett put up a 49.89 in her preliminary heat.
For the men in the 100 free, Michael Eastman qualified third overall with a time of 42.17 as an A-finalist. Guy Brooks (42.90) and Abdelrahman El-Araby (42.95) advanced to the B-final. The C-final will feature Murilo Sartori (43.02) and Vlad Dubinin (43.37). Caleb Duncan is the alternate with a 43.76.
Fernanda Celidonio advanced to the C-final of the 200 breast after clocking a 2:14.65. Cecilia Viberg and Madie Hall went 2:15.76 and 2:16.46 in their respective preliminary heats.
Denis Petrashov advanced to the A-final of the 200 breaststroke with the third fastest time in the field at 1:53.49. Aidan Kreiley moved into the C-final with a 1:56.57 and he will be joined in that heat by Luke Shourds, who clocked in at 1:57.55.
The Louisville platform divers scored as Che Stephens finished 9th (310.10), Adam Sneden was 12th (299.60). Logan Smith posted a 225.50.
