Louisville tops Michigan State 6-1 and Tennessee State 7-0 in a doubleheader Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 23-ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated Michigan State 6-1 and Tennessee State 7-0 in a doubleheader Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

"I'm always proud of the guys, especially playing two matches in a day," said UofL head coach Rodrigo da Silva. "We had a slow start against Michigan State, but the guys bounced back during the singles matches. To come back and play another match afterward showed their toughness so I'm really proud of them and looking forward to next week."

Louisville 6 – Michigan State 1
The Cardinals came out fighting to start the match, but dropped the doubles point. Sergio Hernandez and Etienne Donnet earned a doubles win for the Cards, defeating Graydon Lair and Josh Portnoy 6-2 at No. 3. Louisville's 14th-ranked duo Fabien Salle and Natan Rodrigues fell to 40th-ranked Ozan Baris and Max Sheldon 6-3 at the No.1 spot to even the doubles tally. On court two, David Mizrahi and Matthew Fung lost to Anthony Pero and Reed Crocker after a hard-fought tiebreaker 7-6 (9-7).Â

In singles play the Cardinals did not drop a set, winning six consecutive matches to clinch the victory.Â

Mizrahi got the Cardinals on the board first, defeating Josh Portnoy 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.Â

Louisville continued to roll as Sergio Hernandez beat Luke Baylis 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 and Andre Steinbach defeated David Saye 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot. Â

On court two No. 53 Etienne Donnet bested Max Sheldon 6-4, 6-1 to improve to 9-0 in singles matches on the year. No. 121 Matthew Fung beat Anthony Pero 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3

Louisville's 26th-ranked Fabien Salle went on to beat No. 31 Ozan Baris in a second-set tiebreaker to clinch the match for the Cardinals at the No. 1 spot with a 7-5, 7-6(1) win.

Alex Wesbrooks and Matthew Fung secured the first win of the match, defeating Jonasz Dziopak and Nicholas Ademec 6-2 on court two. At the No. 1 spot, 39th-ranked David Mizrahi and Will Mayew secured the doubles point for Louisville, defeating Pierre Copin and Nil Moinet 6-2.Â

On court four, David Mizrahi put together a dominating performance against Nicholas Adamec, winning 6-0, 6-0 to claim the first singles point for the Cardinals.Â
