
Gabi Albiero Wins Silver at the Pan American Games

Albiero led off the 4x100 freestyle reley and won silver for TeamUSA
SANTIAGO, Chile -- Gabi Albiero won silver as part of the 4x100 Free Relay at the Pan American Games Saturday evening in Chile.

Albiero led off the relay with a split of 55.02, followed by Catie De Loof, Kayla Wilson with Amy Fulmer swimming the anchor leg to put up the silver medal time of 3:38.42 just .67 of a second off the gold medal time put up by Canada of 3:37.75.

In all, the Americans won 10 meals, four of them gold after the first day of racing at the 2023 Pan American Games.

 The University of Louisville swimming team has sent three athletes and a coach to the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. The Games began Thursday, with swimming competing Saturday, Oct. 21 until Wednesday, Oct. 25.
Gabi Albiero (TeamUSA), Murilo Sartori (Brazil) and Matias Santiso (Argentina) will represent the Cardinals on the international stage.
Team USA is sending a roster of 36 American swimmers, and leading the team will be coaches Brent Arckey (Sarasota Sharks), Mark Bernardino (NC State), Stephanie Juncker (University of Louisville), Jeremy Linn (Nation's Capital Swim Club) and Jake Shrum (University of Virginia).
Gabi Albiero will compete in the 50M freestyle, Murilo Sartori will race the 200M free and Matias Santiso will swim both the 50M and 100M freestyle. All three are eligible to race relays as well. Â
The men's 200M Free heats will begin on Sunday, Oct. 22. The men's and women's 100M Free prelims will be held on Monday, Oct. 23 with the finals that evening. The men's and women's prelims in the 50M Free will being on Tuesday, Oct. 24 with finals that same night.
