Cards Travel to Take on No. 7 Florida State

This will be the first of three-straight games away from home
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's soccer team (4-1-2, 1-0-0) is back on the road as they prepare for their next three games away from Lynn Stadium. This week's road swing begins with a ranked matchup against No. 7 Florida State (5-0-2, 1-0-0) Thursday night in Tallahassee. The Cardinals and Seminoles are set to face off on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET and the match will be aired on the ACC Network Extra.
Louisville is taking a five-game unbeaten streak into the match as they defeated Miami 1-0 on Saturday in its ACC opener. Maisie Whitsett scored the game-winner in the second half as redshirt-freshman Olivia Pratapas earned his first career start and clean sheet in the win. It was Whitsett's third goal of the season to tie for the team lead and she has been involved in seven of the nine goals this season.
The win over the Hurricanes was the fifth-straight result without a loss for the Cardinals and they improved to 2-0-2 in the month of September. The Cardinals are 16-6-3 (.700) in the month of September dating back to the 2018 season. It was also the third-straight ACC opener win for the Cardinals and their fourth win in the last five conference openers.
The seventh-ranked Seminoles will be the second of a possible eight ranked matchups for the Cardinals this season. In their lone ranked matchup so far in 2022, Louisville defeated #23 Memphis back on Sept. 1. The Cardinals will finish off the road swing this week with a matchup against No. 2 Virginia in Charlottesville on Sunday before returning to campus.
ABOUT THE SEMINOLES
Florida State is unbeaten through their first seven games of the 2022 season as they have a 5-0-2 record heading into Thursday's match. They have only allowed two goals this season and have outscored their opponents 21-0 over the last four games. Onyi Echegini leads the Seminoles with five goals this season while Jenna Nighswonger and Jody Brown are tied for the team lead with four assists. Cristina Roque has started five of the seven games in net and she leads the Noles with 10 saves and a 3-0-2 record.
SERIES HISTORY
The Seminoles lead the all-time series between the two schools 8-0. Last season, Florida State defeated the Cardinals 3-0 in Louisville on Sept. 26. The last time the Cardinals traveled to Tallahassee, they lost 1-0 on Sept. 20, 2020.
