July 27, 2022 | Baseball, Academic Services
The Cards have received the award each year since its creation in 2015-16.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program was a recipient of the 2021-22 American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award announced by the organization on Wednesday.
The award highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2021-22 academic year. Louisville has received the honor every year since its creation in 2015-16.
Louisville, which finished the 2021-22 academic year with a 3.422 cumulative GPA, is one of nine Division I schools to earn the distinction in each of the seven years, and one of only three Power Five schools.
The Cardinals earned the award after wrapping up their 22nd consecutive semester with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, posting a 3.428 cumulative team grade point average during the spring, the program's second-highest semester GPA since the fall of 2011.
The span of 22 straight semesters with a team GPA of 3.0 or better coincides with unparalleled success on the field for Louisville, which has four College World Series appearances, seven NCAA Super Regional berths, nine NCAA Regional bids and eight conference championships during that time.
