Incoming Freshman Sarah Gordon Named South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year

University of Louisville incoming freshman Sarah Gordon was recently named the Gatorade Softball Player of the Year for South Carolina. She is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

The catcher from Lexington, S.C. earned the honor after an impressive senior campaign in which she registered a .598 batting average and a .689 on-base percentage with 19 home runs, 49 RBIs, 63 runs and 28 stolen bases while playing for Lexington High School. From behind the dish, she also caught eight of 11 runners on steal attempts. The 2022 5A All-Region Player of the Year helped Lexington High School reach the 2022 5A state championship series and was intentionally walked seven times during the post season.

The four-year starter completed her high school career with a .564 batting average, 36 home runs, 126 RBIs, 37 doubles and 49 stolen bases.
