Metzinger Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Metzinger is the sixth Louisville player to earn All-District honors since 2002.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior Ben Metzinger was named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All District® Team released on Thursday.
Metzinger completed his undergraduate degree this spring, finishing with a 3.51 grade point average and majoring in marketing.
The Louisville native is Louisville's sixth Academic All-District honoree since 2002 and the first since Danny Oriente in 2020.
In his fourth season with the Cards, Metzinger holds a career .303 batting average in 91 games entering this weekend's series at Virginia Tech.
The senior has put together the best season of his collegiate career this spring, hitting .310 overall with a team-leading 54 RBIs and is tied for the team lead with 15 home runs.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
