CARDINAL NOTES
• Wednesday's midweek contest against No. 8/12 Kentucky was postponed due to persistent rain.
• The Cardinals bring an 19-15 overall record into the game following a three-game series at NC State.
• Louisville is led offensively by graduate senior Carmyn Greenwood who is hitting at a .419 clip with a team and ACC-best 49 hits. She also leads the team with 39 runs 38 RBIs and stands second on the team with 11 home runs. She is tied for second in the NCAA and leads the ACC with 102 total bases.
• Redshirt senior RHP Taylor Roby has shouldered the bulk of the pitching duties and holds a 3.14 ERA with 82 strikeouts in 100.1 innings of work. She also leads the team with 12 home runs and stands second with 36 RBIs.
• Freshman Dylann Cravens has reached safely in the last 13 games and is on a five-game hitting streak.
• Kendall Smith was named one of 30 Senior CLASS Award Candidates.
• The Cardinals starting lineup frequently features four freshmen.
• Louisville was picked to finish sixth in the ACC in a preseason vote by the league's head coaches.
• Carmyn Greenwood was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Softball team.

THE APRILE ERA
• Holly Aprile is in her fourth season as UofL's head coach. With the 2020 campaign suspended prior to its midway point due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Aprile has compiled a 84-77-1 record and guided the Cardinals to an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

Series History: North Carolina leads the series 11-9
Last Meeting: Louisville defeated North Carolina 7-3 on May 9, 2021 at Anderson Stadium. The teams split a four-game series with the Cardinals taking game one 12-7 and UNC winning the next two 5-0 and 9-5.
Scouting the Tar Heels: North Carolina enters the week with a 19-18 record following a 6-2 midweek loss to Charlotte. Most recently, the Tar Heels were swept in three-game ACC series to No. 18 Clemson last weekend. With a 4-8 mark in league play, North Carolina is currently ninth in ACC standings.
