CARDINAL NOTES
• The Cardinals bring a 24-17 overall record into the game following a three-game sweep of Syracuse last weekend at Ulmer Stadium. Louisville also carries an 8-7 mark in ACC play and is currently sixth in the league standings.
• Louisville is led offensively by graduate senior Carmyn Greenwood who is hitting at a .413 clip with a team and stands second in the ACC with 57 hits. She also leads the team with 45 runs and 47 RBIs and stands second with 13 home runs.
• Greenwood is currently on a 12-game on-base streak.
• Redshirt senior RHP Taylor Roby has shouldered the bulk of the pitching duties and holds a 3.03 ERA with 99 strikeouts in 129.1 innings of work. She also leads the team with 14 home runs and stands second with 41 RBIs. Last weekend, she notched a pair of complete game wins and a save to help the Cardinals to a three-game sweep of Syracuse.
• Kendall Smith was named one of 30 Senior CLASS Award Candidates.
• The Cardinals starting lineup frequently features four freshmen.
• Louisville was picked to finish sixth in the ACC in a preseason vote by the league's head coaches.
• Carmyn Greenwood was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Softball team.

THE APRILE ERA
• Holly Aprile is in her fourth season as UofL's head coach. With the 2020 campaign suspended prior to its midway point due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Aprile has compiled a 90-81-1 record and guided the Cardinals to an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

CARDS AGAINST THE OPPONENT - VIRGINIA TECH
Series Record: Virginia Tech leads 12-8
Last Meeting: March 26-28, 2021 - Virginia Tech won three of four games at Ulmer Stadium.
Scouting the Hokies: No. 3/3 Virginia Tech enters the week with a 33-6 overall following midweek 5-2 win at No. 15/14 Tennessee.
• Virginia currently sits atop the ACC standings with a 13-2 mark in conference play.
• Last weekend the Hokies took two of three games against in-state foe Virginia. Tech won the first game 5-1 with the Cavaliers taking the second game 5-3. In the rubber-game Hokes prevailed 5-4 in eight innings to claim the series.
• Emma Ritter leads the team with a .420 batting average, 35 runs, 31 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. Bre Peck has belted out a team-best nine home runs.
• 2021 ACC Player of the Year Keely Rochard carries an 18-2 record with five saves and a 1.50 ERA while leading the conference with 233 strikeouts.

UP NEXT
Louisville will return to Ulmer Stadium for the final home weekend of the season when the Cardinals play host to Virginia in a three-game ACC series next weekend. The Cardinals will also honor the 2022 senior class prior to Saturday's game.
