Metzinger Garners ACC Player of the Week Honors

The senior hit .471 with a double, home run, eight runs scored, five RBIs and four stolen bases.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior infielder Ben Metzinger was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday.
This marks the third consecutive week with a Louisville player winning a weekly honor, the first time the Cardinals have been recognized in three straight weeks since April of 2019. Jared Poland was the ACC Pitcher of the Week last week, while Levi Usher took Player of the Week honors the week prior.
Metzinger had an excellent week at the plate, registering four consecutive multi-hit games and going 9-for-19 (.471) overall. The senior had a double and home run while scoring eight runs, driving in five and swiping four bases.
The Louisville native is now up to 10 home runs on the season and ranks top-10 nationally in walks and homers. Metzinger is also 11th in the country with 34 RBIs.
Louisville continues its eight-game road swing on Tuesday with a trip to Bowling Green to take on Western Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
