Cards Drop Game Two of Georgia Tech Series

The Cardinals (17-9, 1-1 ACC) and the Yellow Jackets (17-9, 1-7 ACC) will meet in the rubber game Sunday at 12 p.m.

Carmyn Greenwood went 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI to lead Louisville at the plate while Taylor Roby connected on her team-best ninth home run of the season and drove in a pair of runs.

The teams played through four scoreless innings before Georgia Tech broke through with three runs in the fifth.
Â
The Cardinals answered in the home half of the fifth when Korbe Otis reached on a fielder's choice and Kendall Smith walked to set up Vanessa Miller's two-run single, pulling Louisville within a run.
Â
The Yellow Jackets used four hits, a walk and an error to plate six more runs in the sixth inning and extend the lead to 9-2.

Louisville countered again in the bottom of the sixth starting with a leadoff single by Jenna Servi followed by Greenwood's RBI triple. One out later, Roby crushed her team-best ninth homer of the season to make the score 9-5.

The seventh inning brought eight more Georgia Tech runs, putting the game out of reach.

Roby (7-4) took the loss after giving up three earned runs on five his and striking out six in 4.2 innings of work.

Blake Neleman (11-5) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out five in 4.2 innings.

NOTES:
•  With her home run in Saturday's game, Taylor Roby extends her career total to 34 and takes over sole possession of fifth place on Louisville's all-time list. She needs two more to move into a tie for fourth with Melissa Roth (2007-10). Courtney Moore owns the record with 42.
• Louisville has now registered at least one home run in each of the last four games dating back to March 13. (3 vs. Indiana, 3 vs. Western Illinois, 4 vs. Georgia Tech-Friday, 1 vs. Georgia Tech - Saturday)
• The Cardinals turned a double play in Saturday's contest, marking the 16th of the season. Louisville leads the ACC in that category and was second in the nation entering the weekend in double plays turned.
• Georgia Tech's 17 runs scored mark the most allowed by Louisville in a game this season.
• Kendall Smith extends her hitting streak to 10 games
 • Ally Alexander has now reached base safely via a hit or walk in nine straight games.
