March 14, 2022 | Baseball
The senior went 9-for-15 (.600) with two doubles, a triple, a homer, eight RBIs and six stolen bases.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior outfielder Levi Usher was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Usher is the first Cardinal to win the Player of the Week award since Cameron Masterman took the honor in the opening week of the 2021 season.
The Fairfax, Iowa, native had a standout week helping Louisville to a midweek victory over No. 15 TCU and then a series win against Michigan.
Usher was 9-for-15 (.600) in the four games, tallying two doubles, a triple, a home run, eight RBIs and was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases.
Usher opened the week with a 2-for 3 day, scoring twice and driving in two in the win over TCU. He then recorded his first three-hit game of the season, doubling twice in the series opener against Michigan. After a 1-for-3 game in the middle contest of the series, Usher turned in a second three-hit day, going 3-for-5 in the finale, driving in four and coming up just a double shy of the cycle.
The senior has his average up to .298 on the year with seven extra-base hits, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He also ranks third in the ACC with nine stolen bases.
Usher and the Cardinals are back on the diamond on Tuesday for a midweek contest against Northern Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
