
Cardinals Host Central Michigan on Sunday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's lacrosse is set to take on Central Michigan this Sunday at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The game is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Free Louisville Adidas t-shirts will be given out to the first 75 fans in attendance. Admission to UofL Lacrosse Stadium is free to all fans.

The Cardinals bounced back after opening the season with two losses on the road, defeating Marquette in convincing fashion 18-9 in the team's home opener on Friday. Nine different player scored in the win as Louisville outshot the Golden Eagles 39-22.

Louisville is winning the draw control battle after three games, 51-39. They won the draw 17-14 at Colorado, 17-13 at Denver and then 17-12 vs. Marquette. Madi McKee leads the Cards with 13 drawÂ
controls and had a team-high nine at Denver.

Senior Hannah Morris leads the team with 10 goals on just 17 shots this season. She had four goals on five shots at Colorado and followed that with two goals on three shots at Denver before netting another four goals vs. Marquette. She has 62 career goals, which is second on the team to Caroline Blalock's 110. She had a team-high 21 goals as a sophomore in 2020 and 25 goals as a junior last season.

Louisville has three a trio of Cardinals who have scored multiple goals in three straight games this season in Caroline Blalock, Hannah Morris and Nicole Perroni. Additionally, Kokoro NakazaÂwa, Madi McKee, Paige Richbourg and Allegra Catalano have each recorded at least one game with multiple goals.

ABOUT THE CHIPPEWASÂ

The Chippewas are coming off a 2021 campaign which saw them go 9-6 overall and 7-2 in MAC play, finishing second in the first year of women's lacrosse for the MAC. Central Michigan landed 17 players on the 2021 All-MAC team and were voted to finish second in the preseason coaches' poll. More than a dozen upperclassmen return this season for the Chippewas including Brennan Paddy who led the team with 60 draw controls in 2021. Audrey Whiteside was third on the team with 25 goals last season. CMU opened this season with a 24-5 loss at Notre Dame.

Series History - Louisville is 1-0 all-time against Central Michigan and have never played the Chippewas at home.

Last Meeting (March 12, 2021)Â - Caroline Blalock led the way with four goals, scoring three in the final eight minutes as No. 19 Louisville rallied fo r an 11-8 win at Central Michigan. The Cardinals trailed 7-6 late, but rattled off five goals in the final seven minutes to take the win. Hannah Morris had two goals.
