
Chaussee Headlines East Region Honors, Five Cards on First Team; Busboom Kelly Named East Region Coach of the Year

The No. 4 ranked University of Louisville volleyball team placed five players on the AVCA All-East Region Team with Claire Chaussee winning East Region Player of the Year and head coach Dani Busboom Kelly being voted East Region Coach of the Year.

Chaussee Named East Region Player of the Year
Chausee, the 2022 ACC Player of the Year is a four-time ACC Player of the Week and was named National Player of the Week. She ranked 16th in career kills with 1,171 and was named All-Cardinal Classic. She was named ACC All-Preseason and leads No. 4 ranked team in kills and attacks. She was named to last year's All-Louisville Regional team, HM AVCA All-East Region team.

DBK wins East Region Coach of the Year
Head coach Dani Busboom Kelly has been named the AVCA East Region Coach of the Year for the fourth time. She led the Cardinals to a 28-2 record, an ACC Championship, a No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Championship and was voted as ACC Coach of the Year.Â

Elena Scott
Elena Scott leads the Cards in digs with 404 which is fifth in the ACC. A superb passer, she has only been aced 15 times this season in 361 attempts. Last year she was only aced six times in 417 attempts for a career mark of 21 of 771 for a .972 recept pct. She has 21 double digit dig matches with 9 matches of 15-plus digs and five with 20-plus digs. She was named to the All-Cardinal Classic and was named to the ACC All-Preseason team. As a former high school setter, she is second on the team in assists with 113.

Raquel Lazaro
Lazaro, a graduate transfer, amassed 925 assists this season running Cardinals' offense, averaging 10.02 assists per set. With six double-doubles this season, Lazaro recorded a season-best 57 assists in Louisville's five-set comeback over Georgia Tech. The Málaga, Spain, native helped lead the Cardinals to their third consecutive league title.

Amaya Tillman
Tillman leads the conference in blocks per set with 1.49, totaling 146 on the season. The two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year (2020 and 2022) is tied for sixth nationally in blocks per set and tied for 25th-most blocks this season. She posted a season-best 10 blocks against Pitt and registered 16 games with five or more blocks.

Aiko Jones
All-ACC First team member Aiko Jones is Louisville's triple threat. She can kill, ace and block. She is second on the team in kills with 260, leads the team in aces with 42 has 98 digs and 96 blocks (second on the team). She is also second on the team in points scored with 352.0.  She joined Louisville's 1000 kill club and now has 1055 which ranks her No. 20 in school history. She was named to the All-Louisville Invitational and South Dakota's All-Coyote Invitational. She was an All-ACC preseason selection  . She is fourth in the ACC in aces at .40 per set and has 11 matches in double-digit kills, with a season high 20 at Wake Forest. She had three aces against Wake Forest, San Diego and Pitt. She had four at Pitt. She had 12 matches with more than four blocks. Â
