LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville women's soccer head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes and her staff announced today that they have added transfer defender Lucy Roberts to its 2023 class.
"We are thrilled to add Lucy to our Cardinal family!' said Ferguson-Dayes. "She has a championship mentality and we feel that her college experience, her soccer abilities and IQ coupled with her character make her a wonderful fit for our program!"
In her previous four seasons at South Florida, Roberts started in 57 of her 58 games with the Bulls. She was named a team captain and made a trip to the NCAA Tournament in three of her four seasons, including a run to the Third Round in her first season in Tampa.
She scored three goals and tallied an assist in each of her last two seasons with South Florida as she played and started in 36 games. She was named AAC Defender of the Week during her junior season.
In her freshman campaign, she was named to the All-AAC Rookie Team after starting in 17 matches and played 1460 minutes on the season. Prior to her freshman season, she was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Preseason Best XI Freshman Team ahead of the 2019 season.
Before coming to the states, she made appearances with Liverpool and Manchester United' WSL teams. She was the youngest player in Liverpool history to make her debut for the Liverpool squad at age 16 on February 4, 2018, in a match against Watford. Roberts also competed with the England U17 team at the UEFA Women's U17 Championship in 2018.
