Louisville Hangs on to 4-3 Win Over James Madison

Whitsett, Bentley, Hiscock and Snyder all finished with goals for the Cardinals, while Dardano recorded two assists and Hampton had one.
The Cardinals have now opened the season with back-to-back victories while the Dukes fall to 1-2.

"It was a wild game. I'm proud of our team for getting the win and gutting it out, but certainly we need to look at the film to see where we can improve," said head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes.

Louisville broke into the scoring column in the 15th minute when Maisie Whitsett scored on an indirect free kick from Brooke Dardano just inside the six-yard box. The indirect free kick was rewarded following a double touch by James Madison goalkeeper Alexandra Blom.

The Cardinals extended the lead to 2-0 a mere nine minutes later on a corner kick when Nina Nicosia delivered the ball inside the box and found Morgan Bentley who sent it home..@maisiekatew BURIES IT!!!

In the 38th minute, Brooke Dardano delivered a slight touch pass to Emma Hiscock who had free run at the goal to make it 3-0.

James Madison cut into the lead with a goal in the 44th minute to make it 1-0 before half and then added goals in the 55th and 61st minute to even the game at 3-3.

It didn't take long for the Cardinals to recapture the lead as Mikayla Hampton's cross found Delaney Snyder in front of the net and she headed it home in the 62nd minute.

Gabby Kouzelos had four saves for Louisville and now has 199 for her career, which ties her for fifth place all-time in Louisville history.
