It’s the first time Louisville has been swept in a three-game series since 2011.

CLEMSON, S.C. – For the first time in nearly a decade, the fourth-ranked University of Louisville baseball team was swept in a weekend series following a 15-5 loss at Clemson on Sunday.

For the Cardinals, it is the first time they've been swept in 59 conference series since joining the ACC, and the first time since losing all three at Seton Hall May 5-7, 2011.

After losing the first two games of the weekend, Louisville (23-14, 14-9 ACC) appeared to get off on the right foot on Sunday.

Cooper Bowman hammered the third pitch of the game into the right-centerfield bleachers for his seventh homer of the season and second leading off a ballgame. Following a groundout, Henry Davis left the yard, sending a line drive just over the left-centerfield wall to double the lead.

Two batters later, Lucas Dunn drove a ball off the scoreboard in left-center to quickly make it a 3-0 game. It was the first time the Cardinals had tallied three home runs in an inning since doing so on May 16, 2019 against Florida State, also in the first inning.

However, as was the case most of the weekend, Clemson (21-18, 15-12) had an immediate answer. The Tigers scored five of their own in the bottom half of the first on their way to a big offensive day.

Clemson added another in the second and two more in the third sandwiched around a Louisville run in its half of the third on a throwing error.

Alex Binelas hit his 11^th home run of the season in the fifth to bring the Cardinals back within three, but the Tigers plated four more runs in the bottom half of the inning and tacked on three more later in the day.

Jared Poland pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief on Sunday, his first appearance on the mound since the opening game of the season.
