Corbett Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List

The freshman is 1-1 with four saves and a 1.04 ERA this season.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville pitcher Kaleb Corbett was named to the midseason watch list for the 16th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Corbett is one of 65 relief pitchers on the midseason watch list, which includes seven from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The right-hander had a dominant start to his collegiate career this spring, working 17.1 scoreless innings before allowing his first run.
Corbett is 1-1 on the season with four saves and a miniscule 1.04 earned run average. The Louisville native has 23 strikeouts and just five walks in 17.1 innings, while opponents are hitting just .167 against him.
Louisville has two previous winners of the Stopper of the Year Award, with Nick Burdi taking home the 2014 honor and Lincoln Henzman claiming the award in 2017.
The Cardinals are back in action this weekend for three games at Clemson. The series gets underway on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
