
Women's Golf Tied for Eighth after First Day of ACC Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's golf team finished the first day of competition at the 2021 ACC Women's Golf Championship sitting in a tie for eighth at 24-over, 600.
The Cardinals enter Friday's final round of competition 17 strokes behind No. 15 Virginia Tech for fourth, looking to earn a spot in Saturday's match play semifinal. The Cardinals opened play by shooting a 16-over 304 but responded by improving by eight shots during the second round.
Wake Forest fired a second-round 11-under par total of 277 to take a two-stroke lead over Duke. The Blue Devils, which led by two after the first round, shot 7-under in the second round and is two back heading into Friday's final round of stroke play.
Leading the way for the Cardinals at the par 72, 6,089-yard Sedgefield Country Club was Lauren Hartlage. The senior is tied for 18th place after shooting a 2-over-par 146 during her first two rounds of action. She opened play with a 1-under-par 71, recording three birdies and a pair of bogeys during her round. She followed up her under-par round with a 75.
Hana Ryskova is tied for 21st after she carded a 76-71=147 to finish at 3-over-par. She fought a tough golf course in the first round by shooting a 76, but she came back with the Cardinals' second round under par by carding a 1-under-par 71. After recording a par on the first hole, she went on to birdie three of the next four holes.
Margot Bechadergue is tied for 30th after shooting a 6-over-78, but came back with an even-par 72, Agustina Gomez-Cisterna is tied for 49th after shooting 79-78=157. Mairead Martin rounded out the top with an 88-89=177.
The Cardinals open final round action at 9:50 a.m., pairing with Miami and Clemson.
