March 28, 2021 | Women's Golf
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lauren Hartlage shot an even-par 216 over three days to pace the University of Louisville women's golf team at the Clemson Invitational on Sunday.
The Cardinals tied for 11th place with Old Dominion and Augusta after shooting 302-296-299=897 to finish at 33-over par. The event, which was originally scheduled for a three-day event, was changed to a pair of 27-hole days for Friday and Saturday, but yesterday's round was suspended with four holes to play due to inclement weather. The tournament was concluded with teams playing four holes on Sunday.
Kent State won the tournament at 12-under-par and Virginia Tech shot a 2-under-par to finish second.
Hartlage had an opportunity to break the school record for top-10 finishes in school history but placed 11th after shooting a solid 1-over-par 73 on Sunday. She entered the day at 1-under-par after opening with rounds of 71 and 72. She registered four birdies during her final 18 holes, but ran into some trouble with five bogeys.
Agustina Gomez-Cisterna gave the Cardinals a lift on Sunday with a 1-under-par 71 to finish in a tie for 48th place. The sophomore recorded birdies on No. 15 and No. 17 and added another one on No. 4. She shot 78-76-71=225 to finish at 9-over-par.
Margot Bechadergue tied for 52nd after finishing with a 10-over-par 226, shooting 74-75-77, while Hana Ryskova tied for 68th after she three-day total of 79-73-78=230. Carly Haines rounded out the top five for the Cardinals by finishing in 91st place.
The Cardinals return to action on April 6-7 at the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Va.
