2020 VB Match Notes for FSU at UVA 2021

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 13-ranked Cardinals head to Charlottesville to play Florida State at 2 p.m. Louisville will now only play Florida State in Charlottesville on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Due to the suspension of the Virginia coaching staff, the match with the Cavaliers and the Cardinals has been declared a no contest but a win will be awarded to Louisville in terms of conference standings.

About the Seminoles/Cavaliers
Morgan Chacon led the Seminoles to another 2-0 week as No. 25 FSU continues to build on its nine-match win streak. Chacon was the team leader last week in points accounted for (37.0) and kills (35), for two wins over No. 14 Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.

The Virginia Cavaliers (2-11, 0-11 ACC) fell 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 sets against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon. Sarah Billiard led UVA with eight kills and setter Megan Wilson had 13 assists. Like Louisville, the Cavs played their opponent twice last weekend, with one counting as an ACC match. in the non-conference matchup, the Cavs fell 25-14, 25-19, 29-27 to the Canes.
Sarah Billiard notched 10 kills, including the 1,000th of her career.

Busboom Kelly versus FSU and UVA
Dani Busboom Kelly has a 3-1 record against Florida State and is 4-0 against Virginia.

Last Meeting with FSU and UVA
Claire Chaussee's career-high 19 kills couldn't save the Cardinals as they fell 3-1 at Florida State Nov. 10, 2019.
Anna Stevenson added five blocks. The Seminoles were led by Payton Caffrey's 16 kills.

Against UVA, Claire Chaussee had 10 kills and Anna Stevenson added eight blocks and seven kills to lead UofL to a 25-18, 25-12, 25-13 sweep. Alexa Hendricks had two aces. Virginia hit -.040 with one ace and four blocks. The Cavs were led by Sarah Billiard's nine kills.

Tillman No. 8 in the Nation as Individual
Louisville's Amaya Tillman averages 1.59 blocks per set which is No. 4 the nation. She has been ranked as high as No. 1 in this category.

Anna DeBeer Named ACC Freshman of the Week
The rookie from Louisville, Kentucky, DeBeer totaled 13 digs, 10 kills, one block and an ace in two wins over Duke. The Cardinal outside hitter posted a .389 hitting percentage to go with 11.5 points.

Recruiting Class Ranked No. 17
The Cards' recruiting class for the Class of 2020 has been ranked No. 17 by PrepVolleyball.com. The Cardinals signed Ayden Bartlett, 5-8 DS/Libero, Leavenworth (Kansas); Anna DeBeer, 5-11 OH, Assumption (Louisville, Kentucky); Phekran "PK" Kong, 6-3 MB, Washington (Sioux Falls, South Dakota); Ceci Rush, 5-6 DS/Libero, Providence (Clarksville, Indiana); Brooke Smith, 6-2 OH, Leo (Indiana).
