Binelas, Davis, Perkins and Usher earned preseason All-America recognition.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four University of Louisville student-athletes were named to the Baseball America preseason All-America teams released on Monday.
Alex Binelas was a first team selection, while Henry Davis and Levi Usher were on the second team. Jack Perkins earned a third team selection as a relief pitcher. Baseball America's preseason All-America teams are voted on by Major League Baseball scouting directors.
Binelas, Davis and Usher have garnered All-America honors from all four major services released to this point (Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, D1Baseball and Perfect Game). This is the first preseason All-America selection for Perkins.
Binelas, who was a freshman All-American in 2019, will team up with Davis and Usher to help lead a Louisville offense that was third in the country in 2020 with a .323 team batting average. The trio are part of a veteran squad returning for Dan McDonnell's 15th season at the helm of the UofL program.
Perkins returns to the fold for the Cardinals in 2021 after missing the 2020 season due to injury. The right-hander made 16 appearances on the mound as a freshman, taking over the midweek starting role late in the season. Perkins posted a 3-0 record with a 4.18 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 32.1 innings.
Louisville is scheduled to start the season on Feb. 19 with a three-game series against Bellarmine at Jim Patterson Stadium.
