
Cardinals Head to Dallas for SMU Classic

Unusual format against high level opponents will test Cards early
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville's swimming and diving team hits the road this weekend as they will travel to Dallas, Texas for the SMU Classic at the Barr-McMillion Natatorium.

The two-day meet will begin on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. (ET) and will conclude with a 12 p.m. (ET) start on Saturday, Oct. 9. The events held on Friday will be the 400 medley, 400 individual medley, 200 free, 50 free, 1-meter, 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, and 800 free relay.

The meet will feature eight swimmers and one diver from each competing institution. Events will be contested in two heats, with one swimmer from each school in each heat. Divers will compete on 1- and 3-meters.

Louisville will compete against host SMU, Arizona, Michigan, Missouri, Texas A&M's men's team and Miami's women's team in the classic. Louisville has placed first as a team the last two times they competed in the SMU Classic in 2018 and 2019.

The Cardinals are coming off a season opening sweep of Xavier where the men and women both won with a score of 179-78. Gabi Albiero, Evgenii Somov, Nicolas Albiero and Polina Nevmovenko won three events each for the Cardinals against Xavier.
