LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team wraps up the home portion of its schedule on Friday night against NC State at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on ACC Network Extra.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
The Cardinals allowed a pair of goals midway through the first half and were unable to erase the deficit in a 2-1 loss to Oakland on Tuesday. Bryce LeBel tallied his first goal of the season just before halftime, but Louisville couldn't find the equalizer despite outshooting the Golden Grizzlies 23-6 on the night.
The Louisville program will recognize seven student-athletes as part of its Senior Night festivities prior to Friday's match: Detre Bell, Jamie DiLuzio, Jack Fasteen, Pedro Fonseca, Zeiko Harris, Jack Hickey and Matty Walters.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville and NC State will meet for the 10th time on Friday night, with the Wolfpack holding a narrow 4-3-2 advantage all-time. NC State is unbeaten in three previous matches in Louisville, defeating the Cardinals 2-1 in 2019 in the last match at Lynn Stadium. UofL blanked NC State in Raleigh 3-0 in March in the opening game of the 2021 spring.
CAMARA TURNING IN ONE OF BEST SEASONS ALL-TIME AT UOFL
Aboubacar Camara is in the midst of a special season at Louisville, tallying 12 goals through the first 14 matches of the season. The forward is putting together one of the top seasons by anyone to wear the UofL uniform:
CAMARA, FONSECA FORM TOP-SCORING DUO
Aboubacar Camara and Pedro Fonseca have been one of the top 1-2 punches in the country this season. The Louisville forwards are currently the top scoring pair in the ACC and the country.
The duo has combined for 19 goals and seven assists this fall with Camara leading the ACC in points and Fonseca ranking second and the two sitting first and fifth in goals, respectively.
LOUISVILLE PUTTING ON IMPRESSIVE OFFENSIVE DISPLAY
After a slow start to the season offensively, the Cardinals have gone on a scoring binge over the last six weeks. Louisville tallied just five goals over the first four matches of the season, going 2-2-0 over that stretch. However, the Cardinals found the net 21 times in their next five matches, securing their first five-match winning streak since September of 2016.
Louisville put nine goals on the board in consecutive wins over Syracuse and Northern Kentucky, and then again in victories over Boston College and Western Illinois, the most in a two-match stretch since scoring 12 in matches against Asbury (10) and Transylvania (2) during the 1987 season.
The Cardinals currently rank second in the ACC and sixth in the country at 2.64 goals per match, and lead the ACC with 15 goals through six conference matches. UofL also ranks second in the league and fourth nationally with 37 goals and is first in the ACC and sixth nationally with 7.36 corner kicks per match.
