Cardinals Play Host to Dayton in Season Opener

Louisville, Ky. – For the first time in nearly a year, the University of Louisville men's tennis team will return to action when they play host to Dayton in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to open the 2021 season.

"We are excited to get our season going this week," said UofL head coach Rodrigo da Silva. "We have not been able to compete for nearly 10 months, but we have been working really hard to get ready for this season and we can't wait to get back at it."
At this time, in accordance with COVID-19 precautions, fans will not be allowed to attend indoor matches at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. View the complete schedule here.
About Louisville Men's Tennis
• The Cardinals posted a 9-6 (2-1 ACC) overall record in 2020, before the cancellation of all spring activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• UofL returns seven players from last season while welcoming freshman Kyle Tang, David Tesic and junior Josh Howard-Tripp, a transfer from the University of Arkansas.
• Senior Tin Chen opens the season ranked No. 71 in the Oracle ITA Singles Preseason Top 125 rankings.
• Senior Clement Filho will make his return to the court after deciding to use his extra year of eligibility due to the coronavirus pandemic. Last season, he earned three wins in overall singles matches.
• Among the returning Cardinals', juniors Fabien Salle and Sergio Hernandez lead the charge each with seven wins in overall singles.
• The leading doubles duo for UofL consisting of freshman Matthew Fung and Chen make their return, ending last season with a combined record of 3-1.
• Head coach Rodrigo is in his second season at the helm for the Cardinals.

Scouting the Flyers: Dayton opens its dual match season against Louisville after posting an 8-8 record in in 2020. The Flyers return nine players while welcoming three newcomers. Head coach Ryan Meyer is in his ninth season at the helm.
