Getting to know...Carlos Sanchis

Throughout the offseason we will be sitting down to get to know one of our Louisville men's soccer players. This week, we get to know Carlos Sanchis. He just completed his junior season with the Cardinals, playing in 14 matches overall. He came to Louisville after starting his career at Florida Atlantic and is from Madrid, Spain.

Pre-game nap when possible, laugh a lot and dance during the warmups

Why did you choose Louisville?
Louisville soccer is one of the top programs in the country. Louisville is a great place to develop as a player, learn from great coaches and players around you and prepare you for a professional environment. All of these while also earning a degree in economics. My coach John Michael Hayden always showed a lot of faith in me during all the recruitment process and that made my decision so much easier.

How do you know coming to Louisville was the right decision for you?
It matched all my expectations and even more. Louisville provides multiple resources and the facilities to improve and perform at your best level. I have made many friends and so far it has been an amazing experience.

What is one thing our program has taught you?
To not give up. Staying positive when we face adversity is crucial.

What is your favorite thing about our team/program?Â
How close the players are. I love my teammates.

What is the best part about being a student-athlete at Louisville?
Great fans.

What are you doing with yourself during your free time?Â
I work out, read and kill time however I can.

What's one thing you wish you had with you during this time?
My family, but that is not possible right now. I think a guitar would make my time more enjoyable and I could finally start practicing again.

How are you continuing to stay in shape during this time?
Daily workouts at home and running.
