
Chelsea Sawyer Sat Out This Year But Was All In As a Cardinal

Checking in with first year Cardinal
Throughout the remainder of the 2020 spring semester, we will check in with the players on the University of Louisville women's team as they complete their semesters online. This week we check in with Chelsea Sawyer. Chelsea sat out this season after transferring from Penn State.Â
Q: What are your thoughts on spring season being cancelled?
A: It is so sad that spring season was cancelled. Everyone has worked so hard. It is especially sad for the seniors.

Q: What are you doing with yourself during your free time?Â
A: In my free time, I am doing my online work, going for runs, and trying to stay fit.Â

Q: What did you have originally planned for spring break and what are you actually doing
A: Originally I had planned to go home and spend time with friends, now I am just stuck at home and can't leave.

Q: How are you continuing to stay in shape during this time?
A: I am continuing to stay in shape by going on runs, taking walks, and doing a lot of at home workouts.

Q: Your impressions on the spring season up to this point?
A: My impression about the season is that we worked so hard and it is disappointing season got cancelled.
Â
Q: What will you miss most about being on campus?
A: I miss being able to spend time with my teammates and friends most.
Â
Q: Have you and your teammates been keeping in contact through all of this and how?
A: We have been in contact through all of everything. I facetime a few of them, but most of us just text.
Â
Q: Is there anything you would like to say to Card Nation?
A: I would like to say that we are not done and we will come back stronger from this to Card Nation.
Â
Q: What is your favorite memory of this season prior to the sudden end?
A: My favorite memory of this season would be supporting the girls at every home match this year.

Q: What is your favorite memory as a Cardinal?Â
A: My favorite memory as a Cardinal is being able to work out and practice with my team every day. I am excited to be able to play next year after redshirting this one.

Q: Are you home or on campus?
A: I have been learning how to cook, going on a lot of walks, and binge watching Grey's Anatomy.

Q: How have people in your family been directly affected by the virus? Â
A: My family has been directly affected by the virus because my grandpa is 94 years old, so we have to be careful not expose anything to him.Â
