Cardinals Drop 4-1 Decision at Iowa

Iowa City, Iowa – The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to No. 28 ranked Iowa Friday evening in Iowa City.
The Cardinals (9-5) will return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. when they face No. 16 Cornell in Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes (11-2) jumped to an early lead by taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Iowa's No. 12 ranked Will Davies and Oliver Okonkwo defeated Tin Chen and Alex Wesbrooks 6-1 on court one. Kareem Allaf and Nikita Snezhko sealed the first point of the match with a 6-2 victory over Matthew Fung and Fabien Salle at the two-spot.
In singles action, Iowa added another point when Davies defeated Randy Wilson 6-3, 6-1 at the four-spot. No. 51 ranked Allaf extended the Hawkeyes lead with a 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 91 Chen on court one.
Louisville attempted to rally with David Mizrahi taking down Jason Kerst 7-5, 6-3 on court five for the Cardinals first point in the match.
Iowa led 3-1 with the final three courts still in action. On court three, Salle led Joe Tyler 5-1 in a third set. Fung and Snezhko were deadlocked at 4-4 in their third set. However, the Hawkeyes were able to clinch the match on court two with Okonkwo defeating Sergio Hernandez 7-6, 7-6.
