Getting to know...Bradley Sample
March 25, 2020 | Men's Soccer
Each week we will be sitting down to get to know one of our Louisville men's soccer players. This week, we get to know Bradley Sample. He is a freshman from Channahon, Illinois and is undecided on a major but planning to study business. In his first season as a Cardinal, Sample played in all 20 games, earning 15 starts as a midfielder. He scored his first collegiate goal against USF in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and also added an assist on Pedro Fonseca game-winner.

Â
Why did you choose Louisville?
I thought the facilities were the coolest thing ever and they offered me a scholarship.
Â
How do you know coming to Louisville was the right decision for you?Â
I've been able to fit right in and get into a starting spot. I really enjoy the coaches and the players that I am around every day.
Â
What is one thing our program has taught you?
It has taught me that you can't dwell on the lows or stay too high on the highs. That you have to try and stay even keel, because more often than not, we have another game coming up within the next couple days.
Â
What is your favorite thing about our team/program?Â
I love just being around the guys and getting to play soccer with them.
Â
What is the best part about being a student-athlete at Louisville?
The best part is the way my family and extended family have been able to support me by watching the games on TV and being able to come to the games because it is pretty close to home.
Â
What do you miss most about being on campus?
I miss getting to hang out with the guys and getting to play soccer every day.
Â
What are you doing with yourself during your free time?Â
I've been playing a lot of video games and also been working out and practicing with my brothers. Before they quarantined the state, I was going up to train with a bunch of my old teammates and one of my very helpful old coaches, Bret Hall.
Â
What's one thing you wish you had with you during this time?
I wish I had the ability to keep training with the team and to be able to keep getting into Marshall instead of trying to make do with what I have at home.
Â
How are you continuing to stay in shape during this time?
I've been able to go to the local high school and get on the field there and do some fitness stuff as well as playing. I am doing the lifts that Chad (Workman) has given us.
Â
How have you and your teammates been keeping in contact?
We've been staying in contact through our WhatsApp group chat as well as talking to some guys individually.
