Davis Named to Buster Posey Award Watch List

The sophomore is one of 60 players on the initial watch list.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville sophomore Henry Davis has been named to the 2020 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year watch list released by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission.
Davis is one of 60 players on the initial watch list for the award given annually to the top Division I collegiate catcher. Semifinalists for the award will be announced May 19 and will be narrowed down to the finalists on June 3. The winner will be announced at the 23rd Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 25.
The sophomore from Bedford, N.Y., is off to an excellent start in his second season with the Cardinals. Davis is batting .372 through 17 games and currently leads Louisville in slugging percentage and OPS. He is also tied for the team lead with three home runs, all coming in his last five games.
Behind the plate, Davis has thrown out 33 percent (2-of-6) of runners attempting to steal against him after throwing out 35 percent in his first season.
Davis and the Cardinals return to conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Notre Dame. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m., ET, at Jim Patterson Stadium.
