Cardinals fall to No. 18 Miami

Cardinal fall 6-1 to Miami
LOUISVILLE, Ky -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 18 Miami (Fla.) on Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 8-3 overall and 0-2 in ACC play.

Louisville clinched the doubles point with a win at No.1 by Andrea Di Palma and Rhea Verma, who shut out No. 59-ranked Daevenia Achong and Selma Cadar 6-0. UofL clinched the point when the No. 3 pair of Dina Chaika and Nikolina Jovic downed Yuna Ito and Nada Dimovska 6-3.Â
Cardinal Raven Neely was the first to fall in singles, bowing out to No. 1-ranked Estela Perez-Somarriba 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 just before her teammate Rhea Verma fell 6-0, 6-1 to No. 72-ranked Daevenia Achong at No. 2. Miami's Florencia Urrutia blew by Dina Chaika 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 before No. 6 Nada Dimovska clinched the match point against Diana Wong 6-3, 6-0.Â
"We just played a very, very good team. I feel like they are one of the better teams in America. As much as I want to be upset with the loss, I can't really be upset just disappointed. It wasn't that our girls didn't play well and didn't compete," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "Hopefully we'll have a quick turnaround coming on Sunday, and  I feel like we're going to have a better showing on Sunday for sure."
The Cards will return to action on the road Sunday, March 1 at 11 a.m. against Syracuse.
