Louisville set to host No. 18 Miami before traveling to Syracuse

Cardinals will face Miami on Friday, before heading on the road to face Syracuse
Louisville, Ky -Â Â The University of Louisville women's tennis team will be back in action this Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center against No. 18 Miami (Fla.). The match will begin at 1 pm. The Cards will have a quick turnaround as they go on the road to face Syracuse on Sunday. This match is set to begin at 11 am.Â
About the Cardinals:
Louisville is coming off of a 5-2 defeat to No. 4 NC State on Sunday. Sophomore Dina Chaika was the lone Cardinal to win a singles match. The Cards have secured the doubles point in three straight matches and are looking to extend that streak. The duo of seniors Raven Neely and Diana Wong have been solid in the two matches since joining forces in doubles scoring two wins. Sophomore Rhea Verma is off to a top start in singles, posting a 7-2 record so far this season.Â
About the Opponent:
The University of Miami (Fla) is off to a strong start to their 2020 season. They have achieved their highest ranking of the season at No. 18. They own a 5-4 record with wins over two ranked teams on the season. Senior No. 1 ranked Estela Perez-Somarriba won a plethora of awards in 2019, including ACC Player of the Year. She also holds the Miami (Fla) record for most singles wins in program history. She also finished the 2019 season ranked No. 1 in the country and was the NCAA Singles Championship title winner. Sophomore Daevenia Achong and freshman Selma Cadar are each also ranked in the top 100 rankings, as of Feb. 18.Â
Prior to their match on Friday, Syracuse University women's tennis team is off to a 6-2 start to their 2020 season. Senior Guzal Yusupova is currently ranked No. 77 in the nation for singles play, posting an 8-3 fall record. Senior Miranda Ramirez finished last season on the All-ACC third team following an 18-8 singles record. The Orange are coached by Younes Limam, who is in his fifth season at the helm. He has taken Syracuse to its first three NCAA tournament appearances in program history and has coached two All-Americans.Â
