Cards Fall 9-0 at No. 10/13 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Louisville softball team fell 9-0 to No. 10/13 Alabama Saturday at Rhoads Stadium in game four of the Bama Bash.

Louisville (5-8) will take on the Crimson Tide again Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the final game of the weekend.

Redshirt junior Carmyn Greenwood went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and junior Maddy Newman registered a hit and a walk to lead the Cardinals at the plate.

Alabama (7-5) got on the scoreboard early with three runs in the bottom of the first. Skylar Wallace and Bailey Hemphill drew back-to-back walks to set up KB Sides' two-run triple. Maddie Morgan followed with a sacrifice bunt to plate Sides.

The Tide added two more runs in the second when an error allowed Lexi Kilfoyl to reach and hits by Savannah Woodard and Mack loaded the bases for Wallace who walked to bring home Kilfoyl. Woodard scored on a sacrifice fly by Sides to increase the lead to 5-0.

Alabama used three hits and three walks to tack on five more runs in the third bringing the score to 9-0.

Taylor Roby (3-4) took the loss after giving up five runs, three earned on three hits in 2.0 innings. Freshman Payton Hudson surrendered four runs on three hits in 0.1 innings of relief. Junior Paige Schindler did not allow a baserunner and issued one strikeout in the final 1.2 innings.

Kilfoyl (4-2) picked up the win in the circle, allowing three hits and striking out five in 3.0 innings. Sides led Alabama with a 2-for-2, five RBI performance at the plate.
