
Louisville Hosts Boston College on Sunday

The Cardinals and the Eagles will begin play at 12 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After earning a 3-0 win over Syracuse in its home opener, University of Louisville women's soccer remains home to host Boston College on Sunday at noon E.T. The game will be televised on Fox Sports South or the Regional Sports Network.
The Cardinals are 2-1 on the young season, while the Eagles are 0-1 following their 2-0 season-opening loss at Notre Dame on Thursday.

Louisville went into the locker room tied at 0-0 in Thursday's win over Syracuse. After being outshot 7-6 in the first stanza, the Cardinals came out firing, scoring three goals in a 10-minute span starting at the 49th minute.

Jessica De Filippo scored the first goal on a corner kick from Emina Ekic, then Ekic delivered two goals of her own, both on assists from Delaney Snyder.

Louisville finished with 25 shots against Syracuse, which marked the most shots in a game since they had 27 in a 5-0 win over Eastern Michigan on Sept. 1, 2019. It marked their most shots ever in an ACC game.

Ekic leads the Atlantic Coast Conference and ranks second in the NCAA with 3.33 points per game. She also leads the ACC and ranks third in the country with 1.33 goals per game.

Senior goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos continues to shine as she recorded seven more saves against Syracuse. She ranks second in the ACC and seventh in the country with a .944 save percentage. She is averaging 5.67 saves per game (4th ACC, 9th NCAA) and .333 goals per game allowed (3rd ACC, 9th NCAA). Her two shutouts rank third in ACC and fifth in country.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
Boston College went 8-8-2, and 1-8-1 in the ACC, last year in head coach Jason Lowe's first season at the helm. The Eagles will be led by the trio of Jenna Bike, Jillian Jennings and Mia Karras. Bike, who missed the 2019 season due to injury, was named to the United Soccer Coaches Association DI All-Region team as a junior and enters her final season having appeared in 57 contests with 56 starts, notching 10 goals and 10 assists. Karras played in all 18 contests for the Eagles in 2019, a career-high, while making 16 starts and logging the third-most minutes among field players with 1,434. Jennings enters her senior season having appeared in all 58 games that BC has played over the last three years. She has logged over 3,500 minutes for the Eagles while also recording eight assists and one goal. The top five players who played the most minutes in 2019 return in Michela Agresti (1,642), Riley Lochhead (1,600), Allie Augur (1,439), Karras (1,434) and Sam Smith (1,417). Smith is the returning leading scorer, having registered 18 points on eight goals and two assists as a freshman. Boston College opened the season on Thursday with a 2-0 loss at Notre Dame.

Series History - Louisville is 2-3 all-time against Boston College and all five matches have taken place since joining the ACC. After losing the first two matchups, the Cardinals have taken two of the last three. It marks the first time that Boston College has come to Louisville since Sept. 25, 2016, when the Cardinals won 3-2 in two overtimes.

In the 14th minute, Nadege L'Esperance sent a cross to Allison Whitfield who crossed it into the middle of the box to Emina Ekic. Ekic chipped the ball over the keepers head for the goal and a 1-0 Louisville lead. The Cardinals struck again in the 32nd minute. Ekic sent a cross into the box to a streaking Delaney Snyder who sent the ball into lower left side for a 2-0 Cardinal lead.
