CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Claire Chaussee had 11 kills, hitting .556 to lead the No. 11-ranked University of Louisville to a 25-19, 25-16, 25-9 win at Boston College in ACC volleyball action Friday evening in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

UofL, now 1-1 overall and in ACC play, hit .474 as a team with seven blocks and four aces. Freshman Anna DeBeer was errorless with eight kills on 12 swings with Aiko Jones adding eight kills as well. Amaya Tillman had five blocks and added three kills. It was the Boston College opener and the Eagles were paced by Clare Naughton's seven kills and four digs.

In the first set, neither team could build more than a three point lead until an unlikely kill by setter Rachael DeMarcus gave the Cardinals an 18-14 lead. Louisville pulled away to a 23-16 for their biggest lead on a kill by Aiko Jones. Claire Chaussee connected on a set from DeMarcus to give the Cards the 25-19 win.

In the second set, UofL popped out to a 7-2 lead on a service ace by Aiko Jones. BC pushed back to come within one at 11-10 on a hitting error by the Cardinals. Setter Rachael DeMarcus, making her debut as a Cardinal, served for seven straight points to take UofL to set point. Claire Chaussee connected on a set by DeMarcus for the 25-16 win.

DeMarcus' hot serving hand carried over as she served the first six points of the third set to give the Cardinals a 6-0 lead. The Cardinals used .667 hitting to run away to a 25-9 win for their first of the shortened season.

UofL will face Boston College on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. back in Power Gym.
