Louisville wins 3-1 to move to 2-1 on the season.
Anna DeBeer had 18 kills and two blocks to lead the No. 11-ranked University of Louisville to a 3-1 win at Boston College Saturday night in Chestnut Hill.

The Cardinals hit .305 with 19 blocks and two aces to raise their record to 2-1 overall and in the ACC in this COVID-19 shortened season. Claire Chaussee added 14 kills with 17 digs. Aiko Jones joined her teammates in double digits with 10 kills and seven blocks. Amaya Tillman added a season-high 10 blocks. Boston College hit .142 with 11 blocks and two aces and was led by Clare Naughton's 16 kills and a block.

In the first set, after the teams knotted the score six times, UofL took the lead for good at 17-16 on a kill by Anna DeBeer. UofL got to set point on a ball handling error on BC and then Chaussee connected on a set from Rachael DeMarcus to give the set to the Cardinals 25-21.

Behind DeMarcus' serving, UofL popped out to a 4-0 lead in the second and never trailed. BC was hampered by -.031 hitting while the Cardinals were connecting at a toasty .468. The Cardinals led as by many as 12 before downing the Eagles 25-14 on a kill by Anna Stevenson.

The Cardinals seemed set to roll in three sets like the night before, but the Eagles had different ideas. After sixteen ties, the Cardinals lost the lead at 20-18 on two straight errors by Gabby McCaa. The Cards even got to match point at 25-24 on a kill by Chaussee. But Boston College answered by tying at 26 and then won on two straight Louisville miscues.

UofL used a 5-0 scoring run to go up 20-15 in the fourth set and then outscored the Eagles 5-1 down the stretch for the 25-16 win.

UofL returns home Oct. 9 to face Syracuse at 7 p.m. and then again on Oct. 10 also at 7 p.m at the L&N Federal Credit Union.
