Lions and Cards square off again at 3 p.m. as part of a doubleheader

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team won their home opener with a 7-0 sweep of North Alabama Friday afternoon at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals swept the doubles to earn the point. The No. 1 pair of Raven Neely and Maia Haumueller beat Nina Linke and Sydney Flesch 6-1 before the No. 2 duo Rhea Verma and Andrea Di Palma joined forces to beat Lee-Taylor Bishop and Megan Humphreys 6-2 to clinch. Dina Chaika and Jelena Vujanic outlasted Nicole Reilly and Elise Sickle 7-5 to complete the sweep.

The Cards carried momentum over from the doubles into singles play as No. 5 Maia Haumuller made quick work of Nicole Reilly 6-1, 6-0 for the first point. Louisville got its next point from No. 2 Rhea Verma who rolled 6-1, 6-0 over Nina Linke. The Cards clinched the match on the win by Raven Neely, who beat Payton Andrews 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 1 slot.

The Cardinals will play the second half of the doubleheader with North Alabama beginning at 3 p.m.
